Dear Christian Friends, 4 May 11

Greetings to you from a wet and muddy West Virginia. Spring has been an interesting time of year here in the mountains. We have had snow, frost, lots of rain and the occasional warm day. It seems Winter doesn’t want to give up its grip on these hills, but we know that the warm weather will eventually prevail. I have much to report to you in this mission letter so I will get to it.
First I would like for you all to rejoice with us over two new members added to the mission work. We are very excited to have Brock and Tami Zirkle join the mission. Brock and Tami have been coming for some time and are always so excited to hear the preaching of the word of God. They live three and half hours away and are not able to be here every Sunday but they do come a couple times a month. The Wednesday before Brock and Tami joined we also had two first time visitors to come and be with us. Mrs. Mable Riffle and her daughter Millie came to our services for the first time. We have been witnessing to Mrs. Riffle for quite a while and sending her CD’s of all our messages, so we were very encouraged to see her visit our services. The same Sunday Brock and Tami joined Mrs. Riffle’s daughter came back to our services. We are thanking the Lord for the blessings of new members and new visitors. To add to our joy these past few weeks we have also been contacted by a man who lives four hours away who wishes to join our church. Bro. Bill Homans had visited our services back last July and has been looking for a church to join up in Maryland where they live. However he has not been able to find anything closer than us. We expect for them to present themselves as members on May 15th. Bro. Homans has a large family like mine with 6 kids so we are looking forward to their visit and a church full of young people.
Brethren this part of West Virginia is growing by leaps and bounds. We are seeing new businesses opening and more coming in. Matter of fact, I have been able to secure a part time job in one new business that has opened. I am the janitor/maintenance man/fill in register worker for a Goodys department store that has just opened. It is not much money being only minimum wage and part time, but it helps. With all the new businesses and people moving into the area we feel there is a great opportunity to get the Word out through advertising, radio and possibly even a television program airing our morning services. So we ask that you pray with us about this. Right now all that is holding us up on getting started with any or all of these avenues of advertisement is a problem with the roof on our church building. At the end of winter we had a leak in the roof that busted out a portion of ceiling in one of our Sunday School rooms. We have a man that attends the church who is a contractor and he said the roof needed replacing. He thinks we have about a year now before it gets so bad that the whole roof must be removed and replaced. As it stands now, we can put metal over the shingles that are on the roof, but if we wait much longer the whole roof will have be torn off and replaced. We also are going to need to brace up the roof as there is a noticeable sag in the roof now. We must brace this up before it gets worse and ruins the whole structure. The estimates that we have so far will be running just under $10,000 dollars. We are waiting on another estimate at this time. However, anything close to that amount will deplete our churches treasury. We ask that you pray with us about this issue and if anyone would like to help the mission work as we try to replace this roof before Winter, you can send any offerings to me or Grace Landmark Baptist Church, 101 Randolph Street, Buckhannon, WV 26201.
We thank you all for your help, encouragement and prayers and we ask that you keep praying for this mission work as we are very encouraged by what the Lord is doing here in the hills of West Virginia.

By His Grace Alone,
Bro. Jeff, Patti, Savannah, Sydney, Garrett, Ethan, Connor, and Chloe
